I am helping someone setup a new system and the space he would like the tank in is a very odd size. The tank will have to be 3 feet wide, 2 feet deep and 4 feet HIGH. The tank will have to be custome made and thats not a problem. This will be an unusually high tank, what lighting would you suggest? It will be MH, but should it be 250 or 400, or is a tank with these dimensions not even worth the hassle?

Thanks,

Brian

Light isnt goign to be a huge issue, just us a 400, and dont have much below about 3' deep.

The issue is going to be doing any work on the tank. You're goign to have to get into the tank to touch the bottom.

400 watts because the tank is so deep.

I would atleast cut it to 3 feet high and use 400watt halides.. I dunno i might opt to choose a different location.

I agree with yoboy, 400W and 3' high.
If at all possible add an extra foot deep. It will give alot more aquascaping options and give a really cool 3D scene rather that a tall wall.
