ballast Question

My MH ballast made a very strange grinding noise for about 2 seconds , it still works though. Should I be concerned about a fire hazard or other worry beyond it just stops working at some point in the future?

any info on the ballast? type, maufacture, wattage, bulb...etc would help

sounds like it's a magnetic ballast.?
may be the begining of the end for it. I'd say it's probably the transformer going bad.

I'll have to find out more about type of ballast I have, it is just a year since purchased new. grrrrrrrr.
