I am relatively new to the hobby and am still getting educated. My 55 gallon currently has 4 powerheads...3 Maxi Jet 1200 and one Hagen all hooked up to a RedSea wavemaker.

Q: I thought this was a pretty high end set-up for a tank my size by I keep hearing TUNZE! TUNZE! TUNZE! Should I reconsider my water-motion set-up?

What is your return, the Hagen?

You got some serious movement going on there.

The Hagen is the 402/50 version @ 270gph.

The 2 Maxis run 295 pgh each and I realize I have 1 Eheim pump at around 210 gph.

All total 1070 plus my canister filter turning 260 gph. Grand total 1330

Not bad at all. Thats about 24x turnover. Pretty good OOMPH.

I'm looking at 2 maxi1200s and a rio 1800 in my 65 tank.
About 1200gph, or just under 20x turnover.

SPS reef?

If so you could always step up your flow by modding the maxi1200 to go around 1200gph a pice (I think thats what the mod does maybe more maybe less)

Can you still use one of those rotating flo heads after the mod?

I must know more :D

Can't use the rotating heads on them, but I have one on a sea-swirl and it's awesome. Go the DIY forum, there's a huge thread on it.
