I have a 50g sump/fuge. sump is bb, with 2x55W 6.5k/10k bulbs over fuge section about 10" off water. my 210g drains into first section through a carbon bag, then generally to my ozone fed Schuran skimmer, then PO4 Reactor, then another reactor for gac, then the fuge section.

i have a small amount of other algae growing in fuge, but have not been able to keep any chaeto or red graci. alive.
Graci usually turns white and a little brittle within 2 weeks and chaeto stays nice and green for about 2-3 weeks , then takes another 2-3 weeks to turn white and almost disintegrate?

...and before i had a spiral day;ight bulb, so i figured i amp up the lighting a bit, thats why i got the 2x55W daylight p.c.'s....

Carbon, PO4 reactor, ozone, heavy skimming... plenty of light.. and slowly declining algae. Honestly, sounds like nowhere near enough nutrients to keep them going. Whatever algae you have in there now has found a niche to occupy and is probably very good at pulling N and P and other needed elements, from your low nutrient environment.

Thats just a quick guess. :) What does your bioload look like? I take it your water quality reports come back zero's across the board and in good parameters elsewhere?

def. sounds like its starving in a sense. your light is fine. on my 20 long you seen thats only one 65 watt pc for the whole fuge and grow out area where the trigger was housed.
