Who makes the best thermometer? I have a couple of the coralife and lifeguard digital thermometers and a temp probe on my pH monitor and they all read different.
How do you know which is correct? My tank is getting a little warm and I need to know what the real temp is.
Thanks,
C.G.

I have multiple lifeguards and they all give different readings by as much as 2 degrees.

I use a RK2 to show my temperature.

I use the coralife. Where are your probes located?

In the sump.

You don't. Thermometers are not calibrated very well. Consistency is the important thing, so it is not that big a problem.

I say stick with a Coralife one. It seems acurate enough for a reef tank. I run from 75-79 all day and night. IF you keep yours around there, it should be fine too. JD

You can check if your thermometer is accurate. Just stick your probe in a cup with lots of ice and lsomewater. Temp should be 32-33 degrees.

will do. Thanks.
Get thermometers of different type, put one in the sump and one above, and don't wholly trust either of them. But they can at least serve as a check on each other. If your front glass feels warm when touched---that's not good.

It'll read my temp at 98.6F on the dot.

They pop up on ebay. Only cost me $28.00 shipped.
