Whats the best algae eaters to get. I have red algae in my tank. My tank is a 55G. Someone told me to get the scarlet crabs. Are there any snails also that will eat just red algae

Astraea keep my tank pretty clean. i have about 30 for my 165. i would say get 10. they are pretty cheap.

if the algea is on the sand, try a fighting conch.

try a 20g water change perhaps. that always seems to immediatly help my algae problems.

you want algae eaters.... listen to this

get 1- Royal Urchin and 1- Sea Hare

the only thing with the Sea Hare... once the algae is gone... you should return him.... or keep in sump or it will die

i have a 50gal and at one point there was an algae bloom that covered about %80 of tank (rocks, glass, sand, powerheads etc...)

bought 1 Royal Urchin that ate every piece of algae in about 2 weeks!!!! i was amazed!!!

i never used a sea hare but i've heard MANY stories of how they eat algae 24/7 and can clean a tank in a matter of days

Make sure your dealing with "red algae" and not cyano. While there are plenty of critters that eat algae - cyano is not something that is handled with a clean-up crew. Plenty of posts about cyano.
