With tropical storm Alberto at our doorstep last night, what better thing to do to pass time, other than to take pictures.
Just thought I would share some.

Very nice, very clean. Never seen a stainless steel stand before, looks awesome. How do you keep your sandbed so clean btw?

thanks for all the comments, the wrasse has been with me for a little bit over a year now, the tank was an upgrade for my girlfriends 26 bowfront- her nemos needed something bigger. I'm still battling with her about the whole nemo thing, lol. I guess I would have to say that the sand stays clean due to the variety of critters that I purchased as part of my clean up crew, and my weekly water changes.
Keep an eye out for some more pictures of this tank and I will also try to post some pictures of my current 75 gallon set-up, which is soon to be a 150.

06/13/2006, 04:26 PM
yes that's a female watanabe, she is one of my coolest fish I have, the wrasse is called a leopard wrasse, she eats anything from flakes to frozen formula one and frozen mysis shrimp.

Congrats on getting her on frozen and flake... yeah it's a leopard wrasse, the one must have fish in my tank once its cycled, that and a yellow headed jawfish.

thanks again fellas, it's nice to hear everyone likes the tank- as far as the lighting goes, those are current's new sunpod lighting system, the 36" fixture comes with 2 150 HQI 14K bulbs, 9 blue moonlights and 9 white moonlights. I have basically the same lighting set up on my 75 and nothing but praise for them.

Man that's sweet! Thanks for sharing the pics. It gives me some great ideas for my 46 bow. I gotta get one of those skimmers. Somehow it never occurred to me that the middle space under the stand would be a great place for one. I've been using hang-ons and the space underneath just for storage. Time to make a trip to the LFS and open up the wallet wide...

what kind of chiller is that?

Do you find that it adds a lot of heat to the room?

I am battling temps on the high side right now and I have to add water constantly using the fans that I am running.

Nice tank and wrasse btw.

Again, thanks for the kind words, it definetly makes it a little easier to keep on reefing when people appreciate your work. CorallineDream- best thing I could of ever done to any of my tanks, was the addition to a sump and a euroreef skimmer. Hands down best skimmers I have ever owned...
CeeGee- the chiller is a 1/4 hp Current Prime Tower Chiller, It's nice and compact, not too noisy, and it's nice to have the digital controller in plain view. The chiller comes on for about 5-7 min about once an hour, it might raise the ambient temp. about a degree or two, not much more. The 1/4 hp is a little of an overkill for the size of the tank, but the less the chiller has to come on, and the less time the chiller comes on for - the cheaper the power bill, plus with the chiller, I'm only topping off 2 maybe 2.5 gallons a week.
Thanks again everyone.

:eek1:

WOW!!! Dude before I setup my current 65g aga I was salivating over the Oceanic 46g Stainless Steel setup with SS Stand and SS Canopy. Alas I went with something bigger that was reef ready as the 46 was not. My house has tons of Stainless Steel accents. One question, is that a top off container on the bottom left of the stand? And if it is how is it setup?

GORGEOUS TANK DUDE!!!

Enjoy...

CeeGee: The chiller has been set up for about 4 months now, the whole tank is relatively pretty new, except for the livestock, which I used to keep in my girlfriends 26 bowfront, I got the chiller from Exotic Aquatics, a local fish store, If I remember right- it ran me $600 plus tax but very well worth it.
Compulou: Yeah I kinda wanted a drilled tank as well, but I couldn't pass up the deal I got, the set-up is used except for the lights and chiller, the top off container you refer to is a 5 gallon jug that I keep next to the tank and top off with everyday. nothing special to it. I'm looking into a aquamedic osmolator though- I heard those are pretty cool and work real well.

by tha way surferlopez the rock is propped up against the wall how do u keep those sides so clean they look good and of course nice tank man

Surferlopez
06/15/2006, 09:05 PM
Thanks NanoMan, the galss on the sides is kept clean with a little kent algae scraper- they make a little one that is able to hold a utility razor blade- weekly scraping of the sides and daily algae cleaning with the mag-float have worked great so far-- I'm sure it'll eventually get covered with coraline where I cant reach, but the tank is at an angle in a corner so no one gets to see the side view of the tank. BTW watanabe angels will usually go for $100 or more at some places, you could probably try places like http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/angelfish/watanabesangelfish/
but thats the beuty of those angels, not very many out there.

I'm interested in the watanabi too. How long have you had her? What is she eating? etc. I just picked up a female melanospilous this morning .
