Dale, I know your a busy guy but do you think its possible if we order the acrylic now we could have the sump built by July 8th. I leave for florida to pick up my tank that day and want to set it up when i get there so it can cycle by the time I move. I understand if your too busy but please let me know, I'm all about helping you build it.

Ok heres what i need for equipment

Return pump- I was thinking sequence dart
Skimmer- Just purchased a ASM-G4
RO/DI- stacker I can't find the one you suggest on ebay
Chiller- I'm totally lost but i know I need 1/2 horsepower to handle this system.

Also can I take my sand with me or would that cause problems? My sandbed is med. in my opinion, ranging from an inch to 4 inches pending how my clownfish feels that particular day.

Suggestions would be great guys, as I need the help. I'm pulling my hair out here trying to plan this thing.

I'm buried dude! But, if you get me good dimensions I can prolly come up with a design which I'll generate a material list from. I'm totally toast this week but I'll still check in here now and again.

It will take few days to get the acrylic (I'll need the cash upfront or you can order it using your CC and have it drop shipped to my office). I can have the parts cut, cleaned and glued in a day.

If you are still thinking of a fuge we'll need to know what kind and sixe of light you'll want over the fuge so we can incorporate brackets for it too.

Water General look them up on the web is they aren't selling on Ebay.

S-can all of the sand but maybe 10 lb. to help seed your new tank. Having tons of quality/clean LR and your seed sand will make the cycling short and quick. I'd also bring as much tank water as you can handle too just to buffer things a bit.

Don't lie... Jess has you by the "boys" and you'll do as she desires. This I know!

Ok, you're looking at about $350-400 for enough 3/8" Acrylite to make a sump/fuge of about 90 gal. that will effectively hold about 50 gal. Price is based on about $7 sq. /ft. (average retail is more like $10 sq./ft.) Let me know if you still want to proceed.

Holy crap... I didn't think it would cost me that much.... Now I don't know what I'm going to do, The most I can afford to do this sump is about 200 bucks. Any other suggestions. Maybe I can come across a used 55 gallon or something like that thats acrylic and we could just add sections to it and drill holes as needed.... Damn this tank is costing me

Why does it need to be acrylic?

You said you wanted a big sump/fuge. We can scale it down to 55 and make it from 1/4" for about $200 and a couple 12 packs.... Or you can go Ghetto and use a couple plastic totes. those stars you see in your eyes all have dollar shign attached. Either run with the big dogs or bark from the porch.

Tank of the month isn't about size, it's about the package. It's about the quality of the display as well as the design and function of the mechanics. Certainly not what direction I'd shoot for but I'm not you so......

BTW, how many crashed will you have during hurricaine season? You better plan on some serious UPS and battery backup. Maybe a 1400 watt generator and an isobar too.... Or risk locing it all cuz you gotta live in Little Cuba!

If you really want tank of the month, you should definitly fill it with cubans on rafts.

I'd suggest a custom 100 gal. tank, 100 gal. sump and 50 gal. fuge/prop tank. Tons of hi-tech/brand name gadgets programmable controllers, and light movers. Then fill it to the top with rare SPS. That'd be a shoe-in and only cost about $25K and a couple hundred hrs. labor. Cheap for a single guy with no house payment. :)

you guys are clowns. I want a nice tank that would drop the jaws of people like you gentlemen lol.

As for a generator, my dad has one hooked up to the house that during the last hurricane when noone had power, he was watching T.V. with the A.C. on and all the lights on in the house. He has the generator wired directly into the main of the house on a circuit breaker.

Glasscages.com has a 65 gallon aclyric tank new for 110 bucks, then it costs 75 dollars to get what they call a sump/fuge package. I'm thinking about going this route, tell me what you think www.glasscages.com they show pictures of the sump kit. Or do you think you could make it much more pimp for around the same price. LMK

So are you suggesting I buy the sump from them? Judging from the picture I can't tell if its going to have enough dividers to have a fuge in it.... My G4 came in today and boy its a beast :) now for the return and RO/DI :)

O and if anyone is interested I'm selling a 1987 GMC Jimmy 4x4 with 3 inch lift, new paint, heater core, front axle, and thermostat. Its a florida car with no rust and in great shape $1600 or best offer, I can't take it with me.
