Hi

I would like to know if the ASM G4 is easy to adjust for a beginner? I will have a 125g reef with a 40g sump. Is the G4 big enough for that size? I was also looking in the EV-180 but now i am all mixed up. Thanks

The Asm line works great IMO. The G4 will be more than enough and will allow you to stock your tank pretty heavily. Tuning is a cinch. You raise the tube even with the bottom of the cup at first, let it run over night to break in, then tune it to produce a thicker dirtier scum.

G4 should be plenty for a 125.

Do all the G4's now come with the sedra 9000? Mine was an older model that came with the 5000. Upgrading to the 9000 was a huge performace increase.

g4 might be overkill. The g2 I have is rated for up to 200 gallons. I love my protein skimmer it makes a thick scum. The only downside is the smell from the cup. I guess that means it's working right.

ASM over rates their skimmers. My guess would be the G3 is optimal and G4 is great. I'm not sure how the G4 breaks down now. In the past the G4 was a sedra 5000 with a 24" body. The G4plus was like a sedra 5000 with a 30" body. The G4x is a sedra 9000 with 30" body.

that being said, the G4 would be great for that size tank.

I forgot to add, doing the gate valve mod will make the skimmer even easier to adjust for the beginner and advanced aquarist alike.
