Does loosing 1 dkh a day seem normal for a tank with only one SPS and one LPS?

I recently wanted to start practicing getting my alk/calcium up to around 11dkh and 430 calcium... I also switched to tropic marine pro-reef which seems to have a really low alk of around 8.

I have gotten my alk up around 11 but it drops right back down to 10 the next day. I am thinking it it something in the pro-reef formula that is droping the alk.

They say "Tropic MarinĀ® PRO-REEF's buffering system and pH-level have been specifically formulated to stabilise water conditions in your aquarium. This means that the KH level in your aquarium will not be affected, even when using calcium supplements."

I'm not really sure what to make of that? Has anyone else used this salt and had a hard time keeping alk up?

I loose more than that and I dose kalkwasser 24/7. I think your problem might be that you need to be dosing for Calcium too and not just for alkalinity. I think 1 dKH a day lose is normal, but I am no expert. I have the same troubles as you trying to keep them up.

I have been using baking soda and turbo calcium to get my numbers where I want them. This is a smaller reef tank so calcium reactor is out of the question really...

I will start kalk once my auto topoff comes in the mail. But till then I am just dosing baking soda and turbo calcium.

I just have some funny feeling that this salt has something in it that drops alk back down to 8dkh.

I also lose more than that in a day while dosing kalk 24/7. I use sealab calcium blocks and dose baking soda each morning.
