ok here we go. I have heard many mixed responses on these and wanted to know who has had trouble and who hasnt.

1. rio pumps..i myself have an 1100 and its been working perfectly for 6 months although i hear all rio pumps are junk

2. hydor wavemaker... have had one for 7 months and only cleaned twice and its still turning perfectly i have also heard these are junk.

i just want to see if more people get bad or if more people get good

I like my Hydor Flo deflectors -- no complaints so far, but only been using them a couple of months. One LFS here has them in a 180g show tank, and recommends them to buyers. I bought mine before seeing them there, but see them there helped me feel more confident that they would do what they're suppose to. So far, so good.

I've never owned a Rio, but have two of the Hydors. Only one is operational at the moment. They seem to have a mind of their own when it comes to whether or not they'll work. Cleaning doesn't seem to have much of an effect on them either way, IME. They make for a nice, inexpensive way to alternate current, but you'll be disappointed if you want something that's 100% reliable.
