I have a constant supply of HID systems for FREE from work. I have had ideas and use them around the house for simply lighting indoors and out. I was curious about using them for lighting my tank.

are they considered MH? I know they are mercury xenon, and i have the info on the bulbs, i put one in a reflector housing and put it over my tank it looked good, and looked like daylight, not much color since they are 4600k. i know that u can get all the way up to 14000k which is really blue, almost purple. are these too bright for a tank? my tank is only 38gal tall.

here are the specs

Wattage (W)....................35
Lumens (Lm) ....................3500
Life Expectancy ................2000+ hours
Efficiency (Lm/W)..............100
Irradiation Color ..............Crystal Blue
Color Temperature (K)......8000

right now i have 3 pair of lights w/bulbs. I have just put my first coral in the tank so i dont want to make any changes for now. I have a beautiful shroom rock.
