I don't see a picture. A black sponge is probably fine to have, as long as it doesn't cover any desireably animals. Sponges often die if exposed to air, so be careful in that regard.

The one there is pretty blurry, but I'd guess sponge or tunicate. Either would be fine to have.

... but I'd guess sponge or tunicate. That's a debate I have had for some time. slim62471, it looks some what like the one I have had for years. It's survived rock cooking and all. Here is an old picture of mine. Where the rock is now, it's hard to get a good picture.
