I have had this clown for about 3 months and I added a smaller male about a month or two ago. First off, I dont think they are a pair yet but I have been away from my tank for a month so I don't know if they've showed signs lately or not. Anyways, her belly looks huge and I want to think its eggs but I think the male is still a juve. I dont see how they could have paired up already so Im thinking its a infection of some kind. I looked real close and I do see something white sticking out of her which made me think ovipositor but I just dont see anyway she could be pregnant. She's not swimming right either, shes just acting wierd. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'd check in the fish disease forum. I don't know much about breedin clowns, but the swimming behavior might indicate a disease, and I don't think the ovipositor should be external at this point.

Well, the ovipositor will evert within the first 6-12 hours before the laying process. They should not have any abnormal behavior in regards to swimming--the female should have normal, active behavior, IME. Do look in the disease forum. Any pics of her behavior or posture?

OK I had clown belly trouble it was caused by a poor diet, Since i changed to Tetra Spirulina the belly has disappeared and look healthier. Could be there diet.

oops if it isnt that I hate to say this but it could be dropsy, If it is dropsy I beleive its doomed and should be taken out immediately its infectious.
