OK, so some of you remember me asking about keeping an angler with other fish, and the consensus was that it's practically impossible. How about an undulated triggerfish? I know they are extremely aggressive. Is there anything that will live with it? What about the same species?
Thanks alot...

well I have kept many things with anglers. They have to be bigger, much. But I have kept them with lionfish (succesfully) and puffers, tangs, etc. No problems but I had plenty of hiding places. The anglers were active at night while the puffers and ect. during the day. So the puffers didn't bite at them. But undulated triggers are need a solitary fish tank as adult, I have heard of sucess stories about them but in big tanks. But they are real territorial. I have seen them enclosed with many other species of fish as babys though

Frogs are predatory, but not outright aggressive compared to an Undulated Trigger. The Undy could just start circling and nipping, and if the Frog tried to walk away would be followed and harrassed to death; not a good pair.

Ohh no, I didn't mean those two together. I meant nixing the frogfish altogether. What can I keep with an undulated triggerfish?

An undulated Triggerfish can be tricky to keep. Triggers have been known to all of a sudden just go crazy and kill their tankmates. My Niger (a relatively more peaceful trigger) killed my false perc and hippo tang within a matter of 4 days. Something just snapped inside of him and he became a more aggressive.
I have heard of an Undy killing a grouper twice the size of him!

I used to keep a Yellow Psuedochromis and a Rock Wrasse with mine. I had him with them when he grew from about 3-6". Eventually just him and the Psuedo. He stayed out in the open and the Psuedo behind the rockwork.

As mentioned above, Undulated triggers become extremely aggressive when they get older/mature. The only thing that comes to mind that might stand a chance would be a clown trigger. I'd add them together into a large tank - 180 gallons +. However, that is by no means a sure thing and eventually you may be left with one or no fish.
The best way to keep an undulated trigger is by itself.

I have seen undys with eels, large puffers, large groupers and angels. Obviously those are all aggressive fish but it looked great and worked out.
