Maintaining it is easy; getting rid of it is the hard part! ;)

Use RO/DI water, place phosphate media (polyfilter, phosban, etc.) in your filter path, don't overfeed, don't leave the light on longer than 10 hours, do regular weekly water changes and buy XL hermit crabs, turbos and tiger cowries. You could also keep herbivores such as foxfaces and tangs. Oh yeah... buy an algae scraper.

One of the overlooked and better methods of addressing algae issues in a predator tank is to keep phosphates/nitrates (algae food) at a minimum. A predator tank is well suited for a crushed coral substrate which will facilitate regular deep cleaning .. that combined with mega filtration, frequent cleaning of the filter media, running phosphate binders, and regular water changes will keep algae issues to a manageable level.

No magic answer to a cleanup crew .. often a crap shoot based on what your individual fish eats/ prefers .. a cucumber is normally a safe choice assuming your tanks large enough.

Hope this helps.
