hi guys

I have red and green algae in my sand i think cynobacteria. Is it good or bad and should i get it out somehow.

What would you do.

Its not an awful lot but patches under the sand, close to the glass.

Let me know

For cynobacteria use Chemi-clean, its works without harming the tank.

Have a think as to what is making the stuff grow!

Chemi-clean works great on cyano!!

But if its growing UNDER the sand, its most likely not cyano. Any pics?

Flow didn't do a thing to mine. It grew on the output of my Seio 820, right in the direct path of 820gph.

Its not a secret how to get rid of cyano, unless this guy is trying to sell you something. Chemi-clean got rid of my cyano in 1 dose and hasn't come back since. Its been almost a year.

If you don't want to use a chemical, you need to be sure you are using RO/DI water on your WCs. Test the TDS of the output as well, it should be 0 or as near as possible. Increase flow, better skimming, baste the rocks daily and syphon the stuff out that you can see. Next be sure your bulbs aren't too old, change filters, clean the sump, limit feedings, change foods, etc. You need to limit the organics in the water.

After you try all that and still have it, stick with chemi-clean.

I would also question why his secret to removing cyano needs to be divulged only in private intercourse.

More flow always helps (if it is cyano)

Check your phosphate and nitrate levels.

If it is really "under" your sand, then it might not be cyano..

Pictures please
