I need some advice/opinions on a closed loop design for my 50 Gal.(36"x15"x18") I'm going to be re-working my tank. Remove the sandbed, change my return setup etc. So while the tank is down I plan on adding a closed loop to it. The tank is a mixed reef. SPS, LPS and some softies. Currently for flow I'm using 3 MJ 1200's and a Mag 7 for a return. comes to approx 25x-26x turnover. I'd like to keep the flow roughly the same.

Here's the plan:

I'm going to drill the tank for the bulkheads. 1 1-1/2" intake, with 4 1" returns. 2 of the returns will enter the back of the tank through 1" bulkheads. the other 2 will go over the top of the tank towards the front. I will not be using bulkheads for these 2 returns. All outlets will have loc-line.
The pump I've been looking at is the Panworld. Model 50PX-X
1110gph max flow, 13 foot max head pressure, 90 watts,1" MPT in/out.

Now the questions:

Will this pump provide enough flow?
What size loc-line? 1/2" 3/4"?

Any other comments and suggestions are welcome!

Thanks!

everything sounds fine to me....as far as what lockline size to use it sorta depends on what kind of flow your trying to make. Personally on my 120 I have 3/4in on the sump return, and a 3/4in CL output that moves about 1000gph. And then I have 4 outlets that point down that are 1/2in (part of the closed loop powered by another pump). The 1/2in will give a sharper, stronger flow. Not something you want put directly on a coral, but good to hit exact spots. So you need to decide how you want your flow. Hope that offers some help.
