My question pertains to the outlet of my overflow. What are the advantages/disadvantages of having the outlet of my overflow actually below the water level of my sump or compared to above it(exposed to air)? Is it simply noise? Microbubbles? Or something I should be taking into greater account such as max. gph? Thanks in for taking your time to respond.

If I understand your question correctly --
I have mine halfway in the water. For me it is the quietest and gives
me the least amount of bubbles.
Here is a picture of it.

Awesome response. I really like your idea. Does anyone have an experience with the outlet residing below the water level and an opening exposed to air above the water level; such as a tee w/ one side in the water. I like this idea, but am predicting alot of noise from the end exposed to air. Comments anyone?

My other sump (for my 58) has the outlet completely under the water (too lazy to redo it ;) ) I get a great deal more salt creep with that method, and it will "burp" once and a while -- IME it is louder when it it completely under water.
