my tank has been runing for about 3 weeks with the lights on and lr in. theres this brow stuff growing every where on the tankany ideas of what it is?

that algea is a sign that you have bacteria growing now in the tank. Take some test to see what the parameters are.

Did you leave the lights on the entire time? When I needed an algae boost, I ran the lights for 12 hours instead of 8. That tank dirtied itself right up.

brown stuff on new tank is most likely diatoms. That shall pass, no worries, just keep water parameters in check. If you already cycled the tank, you might want to add some snals that like to chew on diatoms (Cerith and Trochus snails I think). Dont add alot of them (it all depends on your tank size). Later there will be green algae bloom, it will pass too. Mexican Turbo snails are good eaters. They do awesome job on green algae.
