What's the best way to mount a Tunze Wavebox in a acrylic tank? The manual is not very ah clear.

I use the Tunze magnetic holders for mine. However, I have a glass tank. Do not see why you could not use one. Especially if you use the model for thinner walled tanks. Check with Roger Vitko in the Tunze forum, or Marine Depot.com.

Maybe someone with a acrylic tank and a Wavebox will respond.

Magnetics would be better than drilling. For the money you would think it would come with a reasonable way to mount it.

I believe the mounting brackets that come with the Tunze Streams and Wavebox are designed for European tanks. Euro tanks do not have molding, or so I have heard. The magnet holders were designed for tanks in the USA with molding.

Although the Wavebox and magnet holders are pricey ( you need two sets of the magnets for the Wavebox ), I have had nothing but great results for over a year with these products.

How thick are the magnets? I don't have very much room to work with. This is an inwall tank.

I don't have one in front of me right now but you're looking at between 1/2" and 5/8" thick.

Can you tell me for sure? What size do you have, upto half inch or three quarter?

Ok...measured with my kids wooden school ruler :D

Width of the Tunze Magnetic Holder 6200.50: 9/16 inches
1.4 centimeters

So, just barely over 1/2".

Disclaimer: It is late, I'm tired, and the only lights on this late are the actinics....

Hope this helps.

If the magnets won't work for you, there are ways to make the rails work. there's an "add-on" kit for acrylic tanks.

I have posted there too. It seems the magnets are the only way to go unless you want to drill tank.
