Would a 70w metal halide cover the same area as other metal halide bulbs, roughly 2ftx2ft, or would it be less?

I am thinking about using a 70w 20K bulb on a 20g bowfront, and I would like to keep softies, and maybe some LPS: candy canes, frogwpawn, and torches.

I think you'd be fine. I"m not sure how long a bowfront is, but i'm using the viper light on my 10 gallon (20 inches long) using a AB 10k bulb and the tank is SUPER bright (even at the sides).

The stock bulb that comes w/ the jbj is crap. Based on your skimmer and tank, money doesn't seem to be an issue, so forking out 80.+ for an AB bulb wouldn't be a prob. :D
At least get something other than the stock jbb 14 k bulb.. its very dim and crappy.
