My tank temp ranges from 76.0 with lights on and no higher than 77.0 with lights off (cooling fans for lights actually makes the tank cooler with lights on).

Tank usually runs right about 76.5. Is that a bit cool? I plan on doing just sofites for now, although I got a free b SPS frag monday.

Are there benifits to running a tank cooler like that? If not I have an easy fix. I have glass lids in my back room I can slap on and add two degrees to the tank.

Thanks.

mine runs about 84, but imo 80-82 is good, some will disagree

Your low I would say is a bit on the cool side...a constant 77 isn't a bad thing. A decent 150w heater or two should do the trick. One of a higher wattage would also work. I have a bunch lying around to sell...let me know if you're interested in purchasing one or two. If you have some already, turn them up. If they're too weak you'll have to turn them to a higher temp to keep them running. Higher power consumption though. Wont be noticeable on bill...I'm babbling now...out.

I would try to keep it in the 80-82 range, but 77-78 will work ok, though.

I have ran my tanks at both temps and I could not tell a diff.
