Connecting two sumps together with two bulkheads and pipe. There would be two bulkheads connected with 1 1/2 inch pipe.

I'm thinking about expanding my current 20 gallon sump by drilling two holes in it and adding another 15 or 20 gallon sump.
The two would be connected with two 1 1/2 inch pipe. One overflow would go to one sump and the over would go to the new one. My pump would remain in the old, existing sump.

Has anyone tried this? I'd rather have two sumps in lieu of one large one so I can remove them if needed.

What do you think?

the sumps would be horizontally connected. I'd drill the side of each tank and connect them.
