i have a 55 gal. with a hanging floresent (sp) light and i was wondering if i could keep some polyps or zoathids? i don't have the money for a MH light so what would be my best option if they won't grow under this light? i have 2 12k lights in it btw.. any help would be great thanks!

I take it that they are T8 NO lights? Most likely you can get away with bulletproof corals placed at the top. Zoanthids, Green Star Polyps, Kenya Tree, Mushrooms, and maybe even Xenia. Don't expect amazing growth or much for color, but you should be able to keep them.

so if i just get some frags and put them on the top of my LR they should attach and be fine? i know they arn't expensive but i don't wanna destroy anything if i can help it!

I agree with Travis L. Stevens, I had 3 40W bulbs when I started. Now I have 4 40W :) and 2 110W actinics on 2 IceCaps 660. I have sps, clams and softies. can't beat the price of the 40W 6500K from HD. Here is the 55 runing 2 40W and 1 110W Actinic. I was able to get the icecaps used. one for 50 and 100

Well, the only "problem" with your setup, crithiam, is that you are running them on IceCap ballasts. That is overdriving them and making them more intense. Your tank looks wonderful, but the PAR rating of Jim's bulbs will be less than yours. Jim, I wouldn't try SPS if I were you :) You might want to take a look at Paul B's tank. I believe it's lit with NO lights.

I know, I know :) but I did run with 3 40W at the beginning with the corals you posted :)
