I got this out my tank. About to flush it down the toilet. Is it a gorilla crab?

It's difficult to tell what type of crab it is. But by the shape of it's carapace, I can tell you that it's a Xanthid crab. The pincers don't look very pleasent though.

so its not reef safe right? I am about to either toss it in the toilet or take it to a pet store. I need a quick decision. Anyone?

flushing has got to be a poor death. I'd go with the put them in the freezer method. They say you just go to sleep when you get really cold. There's a little more dignity to a freezer than a toliet too.

I just keep my unwanted friends in the sump and whomever lasts the longest well good for them :D

I disagree with the freezer method. Just think about it, a human also goes into a deep sleep when really cold its called hypothermia after freezing your @ss of for a hour or so.

Not that I think the toilet method is any better, which would be suffocation.

For a small critter like that I say a swift blow with a hammer, fast and sudden, and its all over.

But the best method is what radone stated, let the AFC of the sump begin LOL

no it wasn't a crab you wanted in the tank, but in the sump he would have been fine if you had a sump. i got one of those crabs out of my tank when moving and he's now in the sump

I am all for the toilet method. I call it the porcelain express. I am against the freeze method.

Sump is a better place or a LFS for those agressive FO tanks.
