heater ?

I spoke to the owner of one of my LFS's. He said that he's been keeping reef aquariums for about 10 years and has never used a heater for his tanks. Does this sound right?

not from where im from :D. i suppose if you keep your house at 80ºF then it wouldnt be a problem. other wise spend the $30 on a good heater.

Heaters will keep the temp fluctuation to a minimum and keep everything happy. As long as your temps are consitent, people run their tanks at anywhere from 77-83 degrees. Mine has been fluctuating from about 80 during the day to 73 at night. WOW. That is just too much. I got a cheap 300watt heater and a ranco temperature controller. I will now be able to maintain temps within 1 degree. Cheers
