Hi,

I'm building a new kalk reactor since my last one was too puny to handle a proper daily kalk dose. The point of this thread is too show off my new plastic welding skills. This weld below was my first but is totally solid (holding at least 40 lbs) and completely sealed on it's own. No extra glue/sealent added. I was just too pleased about the success of this weld to not post pics.

Jeez I can't believe no one's replying here. Home plastic welds open up worlds of opportunity to home reefers. Imagine designing and building everything yourself.

Some facts:

kalk reactor: 15G, usefull on up to 1000 G tanks,
Tools used: $35 heat gun (Home Depot)
$ 85 PVC material (free welding rods)
Dremel
Time: 45 mins

The heat on your welder is a little too high , that's why you see the burn marks.

Yes, unfortunatley with the $35 heat gun I'm using it's impossible to get it cooler. It works though and I ca stand a little discoloration for a $150 saving
