I am getting ready to setup a QT tank and was wondering if something like a Eclipse System tank with the filter and lighting will do. I am trying to figure out the cheapest way to go about setting one up. Also would I have to add anything to the tank like sand or rock? or can I just put water from my tank in there? Also how big does it have to be? My main tank is a 29 gal FOWLR

Thanks for all the help

Yea, that tank would work but take out the media and just replace it with filter floss or similar. If a qt you don't want any subtrate or rocks. Leave it BB and just put pvc pipe in there for the fish to hide in. You can use the water from your display tank if you would like or let the qt cycle. For the size of the qt tank, it depends on what fish are going to be qting. I would read up some more on qt tanks since you didn't even know what to put into the tank. No offence but you don't want to make mistakes in the future and risk the life of your fish. Theres alot of threads on here about how to set up a qt and you can also do a google search and get some results that will help you out.

Keep your QT as simple as possible. Filter, heater, lamp, small powerhead and some pvc. That will make it easy to set up and tear down.

Please don't yell at me but I have a very stupid question about the qt tank.

Why is it necessary to put fish in a qt tank if the pet store you buy them from does it before they are put in the tanks?
