I have purchased a Colt Corel Saturday afternoon. Since then it never has opened up its polyps... It is semi shriveled the whole time. I used underwater epoxy to put it on a rock about 1/2 of the vertical height of the tank. It has enough circulation that it is swaying in the water. The water parameters (except for phosphate) was tested and all were fine.

The tank is 550l and has 80kg of cured live rock. The boxer shrimp does not seem too unhappy... Any ideas?

It might just take some time for it to acclimate to its new home. Since it's been in your tank for only a day or so, I wouldn't worry too much yet.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, Colt Coral is like weed, they are very hardy... pretty soon they will start dropping branches and growing everywhere... If you see some slime-like substance on it, blast it off with a turkey baster...

Here is the colt corel. Does it look very or just marginally unhappy?

my looks like this when the lights are off, but sometimes even with the lights are on, they still look the same. I would say give it couple more days, unless it starts to actually rot, leave it in there.

It's called "coral", not "corel". Corel is indestructable dishware. Colt corals are hearty (tough, almost-sorta-not-really indestructable) but not Corel (dishware).

I'm not trying to scold you, but merely correcting you. I guess it's a pet peeve of mine...spelling incorrectly.

It doesn't look all that happy, but it might be acclimating. Wouldn't surprise me. We could go over the lighting and water parameters if you wish, but I'd give it a few days before worrying.

:) No problem - I hate making spelling mistakes - guess I got lazy. Thanks for correcting me.

Lower it down from the light a couple of inches...always start them off lower than where they are gonna go....and also dont have too much current on this coral....a little swaying is ok ....but you dont want branches flying around in an irregular pattern...also....what other coral do you have...is there allelopathy

Just to let everyone interested know - the coral is now very happy as all its polyps are wide open and it looks like a coral and not a shriveled member. :)
