View Full Version : dkh and calcium in your tanks?

I just wanted to know what most people were keeping their dkh and calcium at in their tanks.

I currently keep mine at 12 dkh and 440 calcium tested on salifert test kits. I think both are a little high and so I'm playing with my calc. reactor to try to lower this number. I use the genx calcium reactor media which is basically dead coral skeletons and keep the ph in the reactor around 7. Should I raise that ph a little bit. Premium aquatics suggested I keep it b/w 6.2 and 6.8, but I think that my high dkh and high calc. say otherwise.

Also, I've heard that high dkh like mine can actually impede coral growth.

Peace,
John H.

You are a little high on both here is a good guide to follow.

Thanks Boomer,

I will try to decrease the pH in my calc. reactor and decrease the dosing in the tank.

Peace,
John
