So... for a quarantine tank. What are the essentials?

Do I need a protein skimmer/powerhead/lights?
Do you add sand or no?
Do you have rock or no?
Quarantine everything to go into the main tank or just the fish?
How long do you quarantine for?

Everyone highly recommends a QT. Which is great but I can't keep one 24/7. What do I need to have it setup only when I get new livestock?

Thanks!

You need accurate waer flow, lighting ,and a decent hang on tank filter. No rocks or sand (you can use a piece of LR to cyclye it but dont leave it in there). Throw some PVC in there for hiding places. Some QT just fish, others do corals and fish.

Heres a link with some more info

You don't need a protein skimmer but a powerfilter will work. I myself have a smaller powerhead in my qt but nothing really strong. As for the light, yea I would get one but it doesn't have to be anything expensive. Simple FL would work.

Do you add sand or no?

Nope, No sand or rock in a qt tank. It should be BB.

o you have rock or no?

No. Not rock of any type but put come pvc pipe in the tank so the fish have a spot to hide.

Quarantine everything to go into the main tank or just the fish?

Only fish can be quarenined. You should always have the fish in qt for atleast 4 weeks. Longer then that will only help.
