Do I want to have my powerheads pointed towards the surface?

I have a HOB Remora Pro with the filter box, and I notice if I dont have my powerheads pointed upwards I get a film on the top of the water... However If I do point them up I question if my skimmer is working as well...

So do I want the surface film or not? :)

if you have the skimmer box, it should flow into it and into the PS. you may choose to have surface breakage, it will help in pH balance, and lowers temps. REEF-ON!!

You don't want the surface film. It's blocking gas exchange, light, and adding movement to the surface will help keep the tank cool. If the flow is pointing at the surface skimmer it shoud be working better by pushing that junk thats currently on the surface into it.

so in other words, you want water movement on the surface.
