what's the best things to use cleaning the outside of an acrylic tank?

Responding to your own thread takes you off the unanswered list.
A clean cotton cloth with some vinegar usually does the trick. A bit of acrylic polish, like the Novus (non-abrasive) can be useful, too.

I have been using a aerosal can of plexiglass cleaner. Works good. I have used a brand called permatex cleaner that works well also. I also use Novus from time to time.

so is windex a no-no?.......
I have the polish , but I wanted something to bust off the dust and salt(system recently broken down and reset) I figured windex would be ok.
water and a paper towel works for me

Windex isn't all that useful on acrylic, in my experience. I suppose it might damage it, but mostly, I'd be careful of getting Windex into the tank.
