My BTA regurgitates a bolus close to every day. I have read up on the topic and understand it is a normal process by which they expel excess zooxanthellae (sp?). The crud gets all over my tank, powerheads, fuge and caught in the nooks of my rock. It's a PITA and tough to siphon. So before I get rid of it ( since my paired percs host in it) I figured I'd ask if there's any way to decrease the frequency this happens? The BTA is 8 mos old and seems to be thriving w/ the clowns.

How often do you feed it?

Sounds to me like it is just pooping and is normal. But you say a bolus? Or is it a long string of brown or black stuff?
He looks just fine to me if that is a current picture and I wouldnt worry.
If you are feeding daily I would cut back to every 3 days to give it time to poop it out.
Also if you have a good cleanup crew they will clean it all up for you.
I never remove it and it is gone the next day. Heaven know what finds it so delectible but something does;)
