Is my xenia dead?

I recently changed from a 55 gallon to a 75 and my xenia is shriveled up and does not look so good and on some of the stocks there is a black stripe. Are they really stressed on just dead? I heard they can smell up the room if they are dead and if they are dead i want to get them out ASAP.

just yank em...put in another health xenia in a couple weeks and you will have 80 more in no time...its like a weed if proper nutrients are available....why risk it?

Run some carbon in your system and leave the xenia alone. Let nature take it's course.
