i had this 2 gallon tank laying around so i decided to set it up on my computer desk so i have somthing cool to look at. it has a whisper ten hob power filter and an eleite mini power head. i just got the water and substrait from my main tank. i want to take the filter pad and carbon out and fill the pad slot up with rubble and some Cheatamorpha . i modifyed the power head preintake chamber to hold carbon without it getting sucked through the powerhead. it has a 15w strip light with a coralife 10k bulb, and some crate in the subtrrait to hold some frag disks and keep them off the sand. i do water changes about every third day or so. real easy. scoop a cup out and replace it with a cup of water from my main tank.
thanks.

Thats cool! I love those little tanks.

Next you'll have LR, a goby, and all kinds of coral in there. LOL!

one of my nanos started this way, but I soon realized it was too small... good luck!

same here. I did the Nano thing for awhile and found they were just to small for my liking. Best of luck with yours..

thanks everyone. thats funny yo say that RevHtree. i just got back from my lfs. i picked up a pound of LR rubble. half of it is crammed into my whisper ten where the filter media was. i piled up the rest on the side away from the crate. oh yea.... i snagged my baby brittle star from my main tank and changed the light out to a coralife 18w mini pc light. ive got one 9w 10,000 kelvin bulb and one 9w dual actinic 03 bulb on order from dr foster and smith. for the time being its got dual 6700 kelvin bulbs. i added a frag of zoos from my main tank to see how they do. im going to try a small frag farm and see where it leads. here are some updated pics.
thanks.

So did you tank the filter media out and now have just rubble? Or are you using both?

Looking good :)

I don't think I could have my only tank be that little, but i really like the nano tanks. It's kind of a unique challenge to get everything in there and looking good.

all i have in there is rubble. i modded my pre intake chamber to hold some carbon.

Hmm, would you mind updating this thread every so often with water paramenters? I like the rubble mod to the filter... wondering if it works better than filling it with Bio Max cylinders.

I've been thinking of a nano sized for a desk.

:D
