This tank was a FOWLR with a 2-3" sandbed for eight months. There weren't enough critters to take care of the sand properly so things got pretty funky (PO4 skyrocketed, fuzzy green algae started to grow everywhere), and I decided to make some drastic changes: I pulled the sandbed out, removed a few fish, replaced the Prizm skimmer with a Remora and added the entire contents -- fish, coral and rock -- of my 30g. I'm very happy with things now and just wanted to share some pictures of the 'new' tank :)
Everything's pretty simple: 302W of PC lighting, a FilStar XP2 canister filter, a few MJ powerheads (one is behind the rocks) and a Remora. There's about 100lbs of LR, 8 fish and just a few snails and crabs.
I find the tank stays much cleaner now -- I haven't touched the glass in days and did no cleaning whatsoever before taking the pictures. It's not pristine, but it's 100% better than it was!

I would say if you are runnign barebottom you will need alot of flow and a skimmer that can skim very wet. Do you have just the hang on remora? When I first started years ago I had a prizm and a remora and the prizm worked way better. Now i have my new weapon and it is a bubble champion.

Your tank does look pretty full so make sure you dont have dead spot behind those rocks(or your po4 will go right back up).

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.
The Remora is doing a great job so far, pulling much more than the Prizm ever did (and I was pleased with the Prizm). It does skim very wet, each day I get about half the collection cup full of skimmate the colour of weak tea. There's a MJ900 behind the rocks, and two MJ1200s on either side at the back. The canister moves 300gph, all together the tank gets just over 17X turnover which I know isn't a great deal but some of the corals are getting a fair workout; it was tough to find spots for the LPS where they weren't going to be whipped around too much.
There are spaces beneath the rocks where detritus collects a bit, I siphon that out when I do water changes. There's also a bag of chaeto behind the rocks which I hope will also help keep PO4 down.
