Return plumbing Q

If I'm running a one inch drain, can I use 1/2 for the return off of a mag 7 with no problems?

1/2" plumbing will severely restrict the flow of a mag7. You should run 1", or 3/4" at a bare minimum.

Does the rule still apply to run your return one size smaller than your drain? Or can it be the same???

I run 1.5" on my return(mag9.5) and 1.5"on my drains
