Is that a huge shell on a little hermit?

yea. the shell is monstruous. It's almost 2 inches long and the crab is maybe the size of your pinky nail. He's been flipped over on his back trying to get right side up since 11 this afternoon

He needs a biiger shell than the one he came out of. Try going by the lfs and picking some up. He may die without shells thaty fit. they grow out of them.

it may not be the reef keeper who's the idiot, but the crab. i've seen crabs pop out of their small shells and quickly scurry into larger ones, and if the larger one is way too big they'll just pop back into their old home

LOL I think this one will grow into a great "hermit". He may be small, but he thinks big! Keep an eye on him, he will be acending Mt Everest within your tank in no time!

My hermit does that too. He will pop into a shell that's way too big for him, and walk around with it for a few hours then pop back into his old one. He's done it twice already. I suppose they aren't too good at guesstimating :D
