There is a loud sporadic "clicking" sound coming from a section of my live rock. Is there a way to distinguish the sounds of a mantis from the other shrimp (can't think of the name now) that makes clicking noises. Just curious...thanks..

I would tend to say no, but then again I've never had a pistol shrimp.

That's it!, a pistol shrimp. Does the Mantis sound come from stricking an object, or can the mantis generate the sound on its own like the pistol??.

So far, no sign of Mantis havoc so I think I have a pistol.
