How many people have success with Falmes? What types of coral do they mainly pick on, i.e. sps or lps or zoanthids?

I had a flame angel for about 2 years. It nips on my sps all day but it doesnt seem to "hurt" it. I just recently pulled it ouf of the tank because it was eating my newly added favia speciosa(lps). A week later, all of my sps look so much better with their polyps extending. I should've never add it an angel in a sps tank. It's a gamble really, some nips and some dont. I wouldnt add another angel again. It's a pain to get it out. I had to drain the whole and move some rock because it was under the rock when I drained it! Not worth it, IMO.

I had a flame angel for about two years before it got pinned under a rock and died - one of my favorite fish lots of personality

I have had mine for about 2 years, saw it nip at some xenia, never LPS or SPS, never any damage. Several fish will likely nip on coral but perhaps not their preference, I keep it fed well, seems to be a happy..........but I have read negative stories.

Yeah I'm hearing more bad reviews than good ones. I know that some can be model citizens and some could be terrorists. I think im going to pass on a Flame Angel in my reef tank.
Thanks for all the replies!

When I first got mine, I dont think I was feeding him enough so he devastated my sea whips. After that I always kept some dried algae or gracillaria in a veggie clip and he never touched another one.

With sofites.....i believe it to be a good idea to add one... if you are getting into delicate SPS i wouldnt dare...why let something ruin something that you worked so hard to care for...you can always set up a nano and put him in there...but i wouldnt do it...even with your tank

I have a flame with softies and LPS, she's well behaved so far. They do have loads of personality, but if I was setting up an SPS tank I don't think I'd risk it.

one month with a new flame...seems uninterested in LPS (trachy, frogspawn, hammer)...we shall soon see if his citizenship application will be renewed.

Check out my new thread.

He's been good on softies, but some LPS like Micromussas gets picked at every now and then. No damaged, but he scares me. I don't have SPS so no experience in that department.

Overall I love the fish, he eats out of my hand and its very colorful.

If you have softies go for it, if you have SPS maybe not.
