Ordered 3 red mangrove 3 weeks ago from live aquaria.com. One had no leaves and I thought they would sprout. As of yet nothing has happen, im affraid it is going to die. Is there anything I can do?
Do I cut the top or somthing? or will it just grow on its own?
The other 2 are doing fine.

this is a great article on mangoves you might want to read. I wouldnt worry about it unless leaves dont appear after the 6th week. http://www.twolittlefishies.com/images/mangrove_manual.pdf

they should be fine. i heard these plants stress easily. make sure you spray the leaves on the plant once or twice a day. in the wild they get the humid moisture naturally..

You can also browse this (http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=788426&highlight=mangrove) thread you'll find plenty of helpful links.

As long as the stem that comes out of the little trunk is still green its fine. The leaves should come back soon and its normal for that to happen because the stress of being shipped.

I have started mine in fresh water with a small amount of miracle gro once leaves start to form slowly start to change water over to salt. If the roots are cracked or scraped could salt shock the plant.

One of my mangroves has lost it's leaves and it has turned brown. It's been like that since I got it. Should I cut away the brown part?

thats the rough part w/ mangroves that have rooted and leafed... ya never know if they were grown in brackish waters (like they prefer to be) or saltwater.. Once they're in high salinity water, they get that much more stressed out if they're not acclimated to it... I just got 150 seeds awhile back (almost all no leaves or roots).. after 3 weeks now, alot of them are sprouting roots!! pretty exciting..

consider lighting and flow.. I heard (think it was) magnesium levels help mangroves.. right now, be super patient.. maybe it'll make a comeback.. crossing fingers..
