I should be getting about 50 pounds of rock on monday and hopefully adding a fuge soon unless a deal falls thru. Hows it look so far my ammonia test kit ran out 2 days ago. My nitrites are over 5.0 and my nitrates are at 40 not sure about everything else. I have a test kit on order so right now I am playing it by ear sorta speak.

sorry for not having all the test readings. the tank looks so bare I am taking this very slow. Should I change some water or wait it out until the cycle is over

You could wait until the ammonia and nitrite are 0, then do some changes to bring down the nitrates.

On those emperror 400's you took out the bio-wheel right?

Those are aswome filters I have 400's on 3 of my cichlid tanks, quiet and reliable

As for a WC just wait untill its cycled, it will take less time if you leave it alone, you should only need to test to check for 0 Ammonia and Nitrite, then make sure the nitrates are really low before you add fish etc...

Ok cool on the wc and yes jerehmy one is am emperor 400 the other is a penguin 350 without the bio-wheels I am thinking of taking out the filters later on am making a fuge out of them. I am trying to get a wet/dry for a fuge but dont know if I want to do the overflow thing. I have a penquin 350 and a whisper 60 on a 55gal freshwater planted tank, a penguin 170 on a 29gal freshwater and a penguin 100 on a 10 gal freshwater all planted and all crystal clear this will be my first salt tank and I am loving the challenge all this time waiting on the cycle to end gives my lots of time to think of the fugr thing and how to set it up thanks for all the help. This has to be the best forum I belong to
