Sand storm?

I just put the sand in my tank. Should I turn off the powerheads until the storm subsides?

I left the pumps on in my 90g and it only took a couple of days for the sandstorm to subside. i suppose it would go away sooner without them on, but I had time on my side. The other thing I used to clear the sand and algae storms is an AquaClear 50 with a pre-filter attached. That helped clear the tank more than anything else. you will want to keep it in reserve, the algae storm is coming.

With or w/o powerheads, my tanks have all taken the same amount of time for sand to subside...btwn 12-24 hours.

if you dont leave on the powerhead it doesnt seem like the cloudyness gos away very quickly, the quickest way to get rid of the problem is to get some good flow going on and have a skimmer working plus some sort of prefilter pad.
