I plan on modding my CS6-1 w/ the gate valve mod I've read about here. The only thing is I don't think I will be able to find a PVC gate valve locally. Can I use a PVC ball valve or is there a particular reason for the gate valve? TIA.

Hi,the gate valve is just easier to fine tune than a ball valve. You may find it a little more difficult to get the ball valve at just the correct setting-but other than that I think you'll be fine.

Menard's has both ball and gate valves in PVC.

I don't know about that specific mod but a gate valve gives you a lot more control on the water flow.

Thanks for the help. I didn't think of that. A gate valve can be fine tuned easier than a ball. Tomarrow I think I am going to have a good look around town to see what I can find. Maybe one of the mom and pop hardware stores will have one. BTW, what size do I need....1.5"? Thanks.

size it for what ever type of pipe you have. Look at industrial plastic and plumbing companies.

First thing on the page. They ship really fast and the prices are awesome. Save yourself the gas and don't drive over town looking for them like I tried to.

You can use either, but the gate valve is just alot easier for fine tuning the consistency of skimate.
