View Full Version : What's a good Ca Reactor media?

I need a quick answer. I am finishing up on my new Ca reactor and I need a media to fill it with. I have heard about ARM meltdowns at low pH so I want something else.

Here are the options I am considering that are available to me:

ROWAlith C+
KNOP KORALlith (fine, medium or coarse grains)

If anywone has a better (and more economical idea) and knows where I can get it, let me know.

Thanks!

Any media will meltdown at a low pH, cause that's what it does. With a properly set-up and running reactor, you shouldn't have that problem. :)

The Schuran media I use is good down to a pH of 6.2, but it requires a pH of 6.2-6.5 to work.

Anyone else?

I am leaning towards the ROWAlith C+

Anyone used it before with success?

I use Schuran and have been very happy, stable ALK and Ca levels.

I use the large Gen-X media. I just set my reactor up though, so I can't comment either way if it's good.
