Hello, I was thinking of making my own Wavemaker for my 120 reef tank. I was thinking of using outdoor underground sprinklers parts. I was going to use a sprinkler controler to open sprinker values on my returns to the tank. Having controlled values to open and shut per the schedule on the timer. Depending on the controller I use, I will be able to open and close the values numerous times a day to similate different currents. I think this would work. The cost for a controller ranges around $10 to $60 each and each value is around $11 to $15 each. This could be a more cost effective way of doing this, instead of using diffent power heads and controllers. Anyone try this method or have any sugesstions.

Thanks Carl

Theres a DIY step by step some where on here where they did the same thing.

Just remember that your flow will be litteraly cut in half and you will have to compensate with a larger pump.

The other problem is that most sprinkler valves need 30+ psi to work correctly, so you might not even get them to work reliably unless you have a very high pressure pump.
