I just got a carpet anemone for my ocellaris clowns, I read that they prefer the carpet to host in.

Right now they are just hovering around it, they look at it and then backup, they have not jumped into it. Any ideas to entice them in?

sorry little blurry

S. haddoni carpets are not natural host of A. ocellaris. Many reefers reported that their Ocellaris and Percula become food for the S. haddoni.
S. gigantea carpet is one of the natural host for Ocellaris and Percula.

IMO, yes. My percs became meals. Saddlebacks are the natural hosts.

you really shouldnt have an anemone yet.. that is a very new tank.. you should really wait about 6 to 8 months for everything to stabalize to get an anemone.. i would read the FAQ at the top of the page.. good luck..

i dont want you to think im being a jerk.. im in this hobby because i find everything about it fascinating and interesting.. i also want to keep everything alive for as long as they could if they were still in the ocean.. is it possible, probably not, but i want them to have the best life possible..take a look at the FAQ theres lots of info there..also any Q's ask, lots of knowledge here.. also do you have silversides handy to feed the anemone??

Not sure about what to tell you other than my personal experience. I have two A. Percula that love their Haddon Carpet. I even have a Ritteri, which is a natural host for them, but they will have not looked at it much. The female has explored it but always goes back to their carpet. They have been hosting in this carpet for about a year now.

So all I can say is wait and see. If you do not want to wait and see then you can try to get the Haddon out and try a different host. I would not recommend Gigantea Carpet anemones as they are one of the hardest to keep anemones out there.
