i was just wondering if it was first of all possible to build my own plexiglass tank and do i have to use a special kind of silicone seal or something that wont breakdown after years of saltwater exosure.
and also i needed to know which test kits are essentail is it just ph, calcium, nitrate/nitrite, ammonia, and a hydrometer or rafractometer?

Considering I have done this for a long time now. Im considered a seasoned vet. :bum:

No, dont make your own tank....buy one.

And just take your water to be tested at your LFS.

That article covers all the water parameters, and lists which ones are critical, etc. A lot depends on what you want to keep, though. I'd remove nitrite from the list, and add alkalinity and magnesium, if the tank is going to have corals or coralline algae.
